How to deal with mold growth in MDF wood - Wood mold inhibitor and mold removal case study

Date:2024-11-08    Read:325    Category:Industry News

MDF is a type of density board, which also includes long fiberboard and short fiberboard. A type of artificial board made from wood fibers or other plant fibers, which are crushed, separated, dried, and then coated with urea formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives, and then hot pressed. On the market, eucalyptus or hardwood is cut by wet rotary cutting, then naturally dried or rapidly dried, and finally bonded with urea formaldehyde adhesive and hot pressed.
Those who have studied biology know that there are three conditions for fungi to survive:
1. Moisture: The presence of moisture in eucalyptus trees directly affects the first element of mold growth on the board. Excessive moisture not only makes the board prone to mold, but also makes it easier for the produced product to crack, directly affecting the structural strength of the finished board.
2. Nutrients: Wood boards made from eucalyptus trees are rich in nutrients required by mold, which not only grow mold but are also highly susceptible to insect infestation,
3. Air containing sufficient oxygen: The ultimate cause of mold and discoloration in eucalyptus plywood, but it is difficult to isolate.
In addition to the three natural conditions mentioned above, there is also an overlooked human factor, which is the adhesive of plywood. In recent years, with the continuous increase in the prices of urea and polyvinyl alcohol in China, many manufacturers have switched to adding a large amount of flour for adhesive filling in order to reduce costs and significantly lower the original solid content of the glue. This has led to excessive nutrient content in plywood, which poses a great risk of mold growth for plywood in the future. Even the best quality eucalyptus wood can mold and turn blue.
1、 Solid wood panels: Solid wood panels do not swell when soaked in water, which affects the material and shape of the product itself. Therefore, we can use our company's specially developed Copium wood anti mold and antibacterial agent for panels, which is used in a ratio of 1:50 (one kilogram of wood anti mold and antibacterial agent mixed with 50 kilograms of water), and then fully soaked for 3 minutes before being picked up and dried. This type of panel and wood will have good anti mold, sterilization, and insect prevention effects, and meet the export standards of European and American countries. It is cheap, easy to use, and is currently the preferred recommended method for anti mold of solid wood panels!
2、 MDF plywood: This type of wooden board cannot be soaked in water and has a high water absorption rate. Therefore, our company has specially developed a wood anti mold and antibacterial agent for the board, which is mixed with water in a ratio of 1:20 and then painted on the surface of the MDF plywood. This type of board and wood will have good anti mold, sterilization, and insect prevention effects, and meet the export standards of European and American countries. It is cheap, easy to use, and is currently the recommended method for anti mold of MDF plywood type boards!
